The Children’s Burrow was just what our three-year-old boy needed. We hoped he would find a connection with the outdoors and the world around him, and he absolutely did. He began the year a bit timid, but now we see him loving to take the trail-less-traveled, put his feet in a creek, stop to inspect a tiny bug on a leaf, and ask thoughtful questions about his environment. One of The Children's Burrow’s goals is to help kids distinguish between risky and unsafe behavior; now we find him taking thoughtful risks on the playground, exploring climbing walls and trying new slides, which were things he wasn't as keen on before. This was a magical year for our little guy, and I only hope many more children are able to experience this.

The Children's Burrow was a wonderful experience for my son. He was very shy at first, but within a couple of days he was so at ease and never wanted to miss a day. He loved playing outside and exploring. I'm so glad he was able to get dirty, get wet, run, and discover his natural world. He became so confident, and a different side of his personality emerged during his time at The Children's Burrow. Betsy and Gillian are simply wonderful! We loved getting the weekly emails with the photos of the kids' explorations. I'm sad that my boy has aged out of this program. We will miss it a LOT!

My daughter started at The Children’s Burrow when she was three and will be returning again. I wish we could keep her there forever! It's such a great program for little ones, and I love that she's getting to explore the natural world amongst friends in a lovely setting each week. Betsy and Gillian have been wonderful! Children do not need to learn in a classroom setting, especially at a young age. It's important for them to learn through play, and that's exactly what they are doing. I've loved seeing her blossom through the year and can't wait to see her continue.

This was the preschool experience I wish I could have had as a kid! Before my son started, he was a little bit afraid to approach other kids at the playground, but soon after attending The Children’s Burrow, he would jump right in! He always was excited to go to school, and he thrived in the fresh air and beautiful setting of Tyler Arboretum (a fantastic classroom). Gillian and Betsy are kind, empathetic, patient, and caring. I always knew my son was in good hands when I dropped him off. I could not recommend this program enough!

If you are looking for an outdoor school, look no further. Betsy and Gillian are not only naturalists, they understand children. They speak to youth with respect and help them foster friendships, love of nature, and love for oneself through curiosity, healthy boundaries, connectivity, and fun. I wish I would have had an experience like this in my childhood, and I feel very lucky to have given this gift to my son.

My child had an amazing year at The Children's Burrow! The freedom she had to explore the outdoors with peers was an amazing opportunity for social and emotional growth. Her exploration of the forest helped her grow in confidence, strength, and independence. She loved finding things at home to show her nature school friends, and she loved telling me about what she found at nature school.
